About

Have You Met Meillie?

We’re thrilled to have you step into the world of Meillie, a place where we celebrate the vibrant tapestry of global flavors, and the beauty of shared experiences.

Welcome to Meillie!

Meillie’s story begins with a deep love for exploration and a desire to bring the richness of global coffee and tea traditions to our local communities. From the bustling streets of São Paulo to the serene gardens of Kyoto, we have searched far and wide to bring you a blend of unexpected tastes and familiar favorites, all crafted with care.

At Meillie, we believe great coffee or tea is not only about taste, but also about the impact each cup has on our world. We are committed to equity and environment sustainability, values deeply woven into the heart of Meillie. We gladly tread the road less traveled, prioritizing fair practices and eco-conscious packaging over heftier profit margins.

So, join us, won’t you? Take a step into Meillie, where your daily coffee ritual is a chance to connect and explore, helping to build a more curious and compassionate world.

Our Sustainability Promise

We are committed to serving you diverse and flavorful coffee, tea, and food offerings, sustainably.

Stepping away from plastic, our hot coffee cup lids, along with our cold cups and lids, are consciously crafted from a 100% biodegradable cornstarch-based material.

We have consciously chosen biodegradable straw-less lids for our cold drinks, eliminating the need for straws. If you still prefer to use straws, we have selected 100% biodegradable ones for you.

Wherever possible, we use food packaging boxes made from bagasse - a 100% biodegradable, rapidly renewable material made from sugarcane pulp.

We brew our coffee with Moccamasters - sustainably handcrafted in the Netherlands, using high quality components and recyclable packaging.

Choosing taste and eco-responsibility, we steep all our tea beverages with loose tea leaves, bidding goodbye to single-use tea bags.

Last but not least, by making the extra effort of separating coffee grinds and tea leaves from other wastes, we ensure that these organic elements are mindfully returned to nature.

Meet our founder Jocelyn Chen, the visionary behind Meillie Coffee.

As a first-generation immigrant, Jocelyn grew up in the lively streets of Shanghai, China, before embarking on global adventures that spanned five continents. Her deep love for exploring diverse cultures and her commitment to building bridges between them inspired the very concept of Meillie Coffee.

But Jocelyn's journey isn't confined to the coffee world. After leaving behind a career in the corporate world, her desire to give back to the communities, combined with her passion for art and design, led her to found DESIGNCONNECT, a nonprofit providing career pathways in creative design for Detroit public school students.

Active in the community, Jocelyn served on the boards of Oakland University Center for Public Humanities and Eisenhower Dance Detroit. With advanced degrees in Engineering and Art History, Jocelyn's multifaceted journey mirrors the unique and eclectic ethos of Meillie Coffee, where global nuances blend with local authenticity.
